On 3 August 2022, the REXUS pilot in Nima, Colombia, engaged 20 stakeholders from across the Water-Energy-Food Nexus sectors in an interactive workshop on 3 August 2022, aiming to identify the main environmental challenges from the viewpoint of the local stakeholders of the Nima river sub-basin.

The first workshop of the Isonzo/Soča REXUS transboundary river basin pilot took place on 14 of July 2022, bringing together almost 40 participants from across the Water-Energy-Food Nexus from both Italy and Slovenia, to identify and discuss environmental, economic and social challenges, and potential solutions.

More than 50 researchers will meet at the Albacete Water Interpretation Center (CIAb) from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 April 2022.

In order to assist policymakers make the jump from Nexus Thinking to Nexus Doing, the REXUS project is developing novel tools that allow to predict and visualise future socioeconomic pathways in response to external shocks and policy changes.

The REXUS project is advancing its 5 pilot demonstration projects in sites across Europe and Latin America, placing stakeholders at the very center from the outset.

The REXUS project’s 1st plenary meeting took place on 21 and 27 October 2021, with more than 60 participants from over 20 institutions. The consortium shared advances on various pieces of the REXUS ‘jigsaw puzzle’ which is coming together to create new blueprint for applying the Water-Energy-Food-Climate Nexus. REXUS is focusing on 5 pilot sites in Europe and Latin America, where top-down analysis and bottom-up stakeholder engagement are being combined to tackle complex natural resource challenges.

By bringing the Water-Energy-Food Nexus concept to an operational level as a tool for analysis, planning and decision-making for natural resources management, the new Horizon 2020 REXUS Project is closing the gap between science and policy, through an innovative integrated approach applied in 5 pilot sites across Europe and Latin America.

In the frame of identifying best practices in Nexus management in the Mediterranean, the REXUS project was presented in a dedicated poster session at the WEFE Nexus Science Advances Conference

REXUS and its sister project, PRIMA-LENSES, are reaching out to stakeholders and partners in our pilot areas and beyond, presenting their innovative approaches in addressing Water-Energy-Food NEXUS systems, assisting the shift from Nexus Thinking to Nexus Doing.
